How to Recover Your QT Wallet

QT Wallet

If you are installing the wallet on a new a computer then simply download and install the wallet. Then, place the backup copy of your wallet.dat into the Electra folder. Instructions are below.

If you’re restoring from a computer restored backup and your coins aren’t showing up after the wallet syncs then follow these steps.

Windows

1. Close the QT wallet

2. Press Windows Key + R

3. Type %appdata%\Electra then press enter

3. Place your backup copy of the wallet.dat into this folder. Be sure the file is called wallet.dat. If there is already a wallet.dat inside this folder move it to the trash.

4. Download this peers.dat file and place it in the folder. Make sure it’s called peers.dat. If there is already one there delete it first or replace it with the downloaded file.

5. When steps 3 and 4 are finished, open the QT wallet.

*Your wallet should get connections pretty soon and start downloading blocks. ECA will appear in wallet after it is fully synced. This process takes about 1-2 hours.

MacOS

1. Close QT wallet

2. Click desktop and click on Go to folder or press Shift ⇧ + Command ⌘ + G


3. Type ~/Library/Application Support/Electra and then click on Go

4. Place your backup copy of the wallet.dat into this folder. Be sure the file is called wallet.dat. If there is already a wallet.dat inside this folder move it to the trash.

5. Download this peers.dat file and place it in the folder. Make sure it’s called peers.dat. If there is already one there delete it first or replace it with the downloaded file.

6. When steps 3 and 4 are finished, open the QT wallet.

Linux – Ubuntu Mate

1. Close QT Wallet

2. Open Home Folder located in the desktop

3. Ctrl + H and find the .Electra folder then open

4. Place your backup copy of the wallet.dat into this folder. Be sure the file is called wallet.dat. If there is already a wallet.dat inside this folder move it to the trash.

5. Download this peers.dat file and place it in the folder. Make sure it’s called peers.dat. If there is already one there delete it first or replace it with the downloaded file.
